The candle holders originate from our fundamental architectural form—marking the moment when a two-dimensional shape is first translated into three dimensions through extrusion. This primary geometry underpins much of the 50% collection, serving as both a starting point and a system.
Like a building block, the form functions as a modular unit—a cell that can be repeated and assembled into larger structures. In this way, the candle holders are not only objects in themselves, but also part of a broader architectural language.
The candle holders also act as experiments and prototypes for larger-scale works, especially in terms of shapes, materials and finishes.
Here, transformation occurs through the blending of materials rather than through gesture alone. Each piece incorporates discarded clays, homemade chamotte, slurry, and other workshop remnants—actively reclaiming waste as a component of the process.
About the collection:
50% OFF is a study of process, asking how ideas change as soon as they are translated into something tangible. It’s a reflection on creative loss—because something is always given up in the act of making. What remains is not the full initial idea, but half of it: altered, reduced, and perhaps more honest.
